The Life of Anne Frank Bike Tour
The Life of Anne Frank Bike Tour
DESCRIPTION
During this 2-hour bicycle tour of Amsterdam’s Rivierenbuurt (“River District”), you will not only visit the district where Anne Frank grew up, but also the primary school she attended. You will experience a pleasant bike ride along the Amstel River where you will enjoy its beautiful views. Your professional guide from 360 Amsterdam will make several stops to tell you all about Anne Frank’s life and her time before her family went into hiding in July 1942 because of the German occupation.
Places to see
In this 2 hour tour you will learn about Anne Frank’s story and see the house she grew up in, the school she attended and the bookstore where Anne’s father, Otto Frank, bought the diary where Anne began her writing journey. You will experience Amsterdam in the most typical local way: by bicycle! The bike ride along the Amstel River is the most beautiful route of them all.
Bicycles
City bikes are easy to use, have no less than 7-speed and can be adjusted to your height. The paths used for the ride are flatter, quieter and less chaotic than those in the historic city centre. However, we advise you to participate only if you already have experience with the bicycle.
ROUTE
At the beginning of the bicycle tour we will follow the Amstel River, passing through Holocaust memorials and making multiple stops for more in-depth stories about World War II. After a bike ride of about 4 km, we will arrive at the Rivierenbuurt, where Anne Frank grew up. Your expert guide will make a stop on Merwedeplein to vividly narrate Anne Frank’s story (her life before and during hiding). Afterwards, we will explore the neighbourhood to get a sense of the history before returning to the city centre.
Recommended: The tour is a perfect choice for history lovers who wish to learn more about Anne Frank in an educational and entertaining way while accompanied by a professional guide.

REVIEWS
Anne Frank Bike Tour Was Excellent
The Anne Frank bike tour, led by Timo, was a highlight of our trip to Amsterdam. This tour included exterior stops at:
*The Portuguese Synagogue that was a hub of life in Amsterdam’s Jewish Quarter for centuries.
*Anne Frank’s childhood home on the Merwedeplein.
*The actual bookshop (still in business) where Anne Frank’s father purchased her diary. We were able to go inside the bookstore and buy something if we wished.
*The Montessori School (also still functioning) that Anne attended throughout her childhood.
Timo is a Holland native with a degree in history, in addition to being a laid-back, friendly person. He shared his extensive knowledge about the history of Amsterdam’s Jewish community and the story of Anne Frank clearly and concisely, and with genuine caring. He was also a safe and skilled bicycle guide.
Don't Miss This Opportunity to Know Anne Frank
We elected for this option after not being able to get AF museum tickets. SO INTERESTING and enjoyed by our group of women aged 44-70. Bike pace was leisurely. Safe. Informative.
Our guide, Timo, was a Dutch college graduate who had extensively studied history and genocide. At each stop (AF home before hiding, bookstore, monument, school) Timo would provide interesting facts about AF and pull out corresponding photos.
Tour ran roughly 2 hours and was not physically demanding. A nice way to see the city and learn more about AF.
Informative + Great Guide
Had a great time! Jonathan was ready to answer questions and was well-informed about the history and culture of Amsterdam. Great way to start a trip to the city. Provides just enough background information. Thanks!
Insightful and Entertaining Introduction into Amsterdam!
Our tour guide Bec, who is originally from Australia, gave us an extremely informative and helpful overview into Amsterdam’s most famous corners and hidden gems. She narrated stories with passion and humor and she always had an open ear for questions.
